TVSI Sponsors Seminar On Cybercrimes Organized by ACFE-Philippine Chapter

Truth Verifier Systems, Inc. (TVSI), the country’s first and leading private detective and lie detector company, sponsored the recently concluded Technical Session on Cybercrimes organized by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) Philippine Chapter that was held at Berjaya Hotel in Makati City on September 13, 2012.

The speakers of the said event were: Mark Zmigrodski, Specialized Manager Fraud Investigator of AT&T-USA and 2010 Certified Fraud Examiner of the Year recipient of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners-International; and Alexander Ramos, Cybercrime Specialist of the Philippine National Police (ret.) and 2007 Timothy Fidel Memorial Awardee for Excellence in Computer Forensic Investigations held in Lake Las Vegas, USA.

During the technical session, the two cybercrime experts shared their actual experiences on how they were able to bring down the team of international cyber thieves, who hacked into 2,500 PBX (Private Branch Exchange) phone system worldwide; thereby, hijacking millions of dollars worth of phone calls from telecommunication companies in the US, Philippines, Canada, Australia and across Europe. The speakers further divulge the techniques, including hacking through voicemail used by the culprits. Moreover, amidst the investigation, they were able to uncover connections of these hackers to the highly organized syndicate and terrorists operating here and abroad. The speakers also named the people, who had been financiers and beneficiaries of the substantial amounts gained from this crime as well as the money transfer transactions all over the aforesaid continents.

The entire presentation also provided the attendees a clear picture on the nature of cybercrimes and how to investigate such crimes by new technology and procedures because nowadays perpetrators are also multiplying as the growth and development of telecommunication and information technologies quickly changes. As such, it helps investigators to cope with these challenges with a totally different thought and technical skills.
